The Third Way is a powerful, brief documentary by Blackstone Films. Lasting less than 40 minutes, the Catholic understanding of same-sex attraction (SSA) and how individuals who experience it should be treated is explored in-depth, with many personal testimonies of people from various backgrounds and how they encountered God’s love through their struggles. This film is especially helpful for those who do not understand what an individual may be going through who experiences SSA. I will share another video in a later CMW segment that is similar but that I especially recommend for people who actually experience this attraction themselves. In a society where issues surrounding the topic of gender and sexual orientation are so prevalent right now, I think watching this film will help anyone have a clearer understanding of Catholic teaching from an insider’s perspective. It also gives a glimpse into the heroic lives of those Catholics who experience SSA and choose to live chaste and holy lives in pursuit of holiness, the call of us all.
