Whether through fog-misted, sunshiney mornings or through the pitter-pattering of rainy afternoons, Elise desires to see God’s beauty in everyday life and shares it through her vlog Beautiful Being. Elise previously served as a traveling missionary through Totus Tuus and NET and has since moved from her hometown of Minong, but she still calls the Northwoods her home. Currently attending the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND, Elise is majoring in psychology with hopes of challenging Catholic communities to take on a more comprehensive understanding of mental health and to live out saintly lives, fully aware of God’s presence even in the midst of depression, anxiety, and other mental illnesses.
Grace was a part of the 2014 Totus Tuus team and has been working as an administrative assistant for the Diocese of Superior since May 2016. She is excited about working for the diocese in the areas of education and formation and about assisting others in their ministry. Some of her favorite things include chocolate, books, watching movies with friends, fishing, taking walks, baking, spending time with family, and pretty much anything related to the Lord of the Rings. It is impossible for her to decide on her favorite saint, but St. Catherine of Siena, St. Dominic, St. Philomena, and St. John Paul II are all close contenders for the title. Grace lives with her husband, Daniel in Bruce WI.
Shelby is a native of sunny Southern California and is finishing up her senior year at Franciscan University of Steubenville. She was a Totus Tuus missionary for the Diocese of Superior in 2019 and walked away radically changed by Jesus and his little ones (and totally obsessed with the Banana Song – if you know, you know!). If you ever want to browse a bookstore, have a dance party, make a Spotify playlist, or laugh a lot, she’s your girl. She loves the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, St. Mary Magdalene, and St. John the Beloved. She loves Jesus, loves writing, and loves to share Jesus through her writing!
Do you ever wish you could forget something? Jenny could tell you all about the reality of forgetfulness due to her being diagnosed with Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE). This spunky, energetic, and friendly girl grew up in the Diocese of Superior in a small village called Frederic. Over the years, Jenny has been involved with Extreme Faith Camp, High School Leadership Retreats, and this past summer was part of the Totus Tuus team. You can find her either creating art, telling ridiculously funny stories, casually shooting hoops, or hiking the great mountains of Wisconsin. Being an advocate for living adventurously in the outdoors, it only makes sense that Jenny’s favorite saint is Bl. Pier Giorgio Frassati. Jenny’s favorite prayers are Night Prayer from the Liturgy of the Hours and the Divine Mercy Chaplet.
Kayla is a senior at Benedictine College studying International Studies and Political Science. She grew up in Cumberland, WI and loves being a parishioner at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. One of Kayla’s favorite summers was spent serving as a Totus Tuus teacher for the Diocese of Superior, where she met some crazy cool folks. A fun fact about Kayla is that she has a hankering for travel. She has visited Peru, Spain, and England, all of which she adored. If she had the chance to visit all the countries in the world, she would do it! While Kayla is not busy getting lost in foreign places, she enjoys canoeing, hiking, skiing, running, spending time with friends, and eating ice cream. Worshiping through song is one of Kayla’s favorite ways to pray. She frequently asks for the intercession of her pals St. Teresa of the Andes and Bl. Pier Giorgio Frassati.
CJ is a Minnesotan in Wisconsin territory. She fell in love with the Diocese of Superior after serving as a Totus Tuus missionary but hasn’t moved there yet. She currently lives in Winona, MN so she’s right across the river. In order, her favorite things are: God, Mama Mary, friends, and books. A crazy fact about CJ is that she is the oldest of 10 children and is very much a mom friend. Her Saint Squad includes St. Michael the Archangel, St. Dymphna, St. JP2, and Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati.
Andrew grew up in Hudson, WI with his parents and three older siblings. He is currently a senior in the nursing program at UW-Eau Claire. He was a Totus Tuus teacher for the Diocese of Superior in 2017, and it was the best summer of his life. Andrew has consecrated himself to Christ through the our Mother Mary, whom he calls upon daily for help. Andrew’s favorite saints are St. Thérèse of Lisieux and St. Christopher (his Confirmation saint). His favorite smells are campfires, freshly baked bread, and vanilla. In his free time, he enjoys reading, drawing, and doing CrossFit. Although his last name is pronounced “cry,” most people agree that he is a soft-spoken person.
Jonathan hails from Tony, WI and is a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi in Flambeau. He served as a Totus Tuus Missionary in 2019 but has attended the program as a student and helper for about a decade. He loves hats, swords, cheese, traditions, and music. If he is not writing, there is a good chance that he is playing bagpipes, climbing things, or spending time with his family. His favorite saints are St. Thérèse, St. Thomas More, and St. Louis Martin (and Mama Mary, of course).
Bryn is currently a student at Winona State University studying Elementary Education with Middle Level Math. From Rice Lake, she has been raised in Our Lady of Lourdes parish and active at Dobie through music ministry (playing flute/piano and singing in the choir). In the Diocese of Superior, Bryn had a blast teaching kiddos the love of the Lord as a Totus Tuus missionary during the summer of 2016, has led a few retreats and small-group Bible studies, and gave a women’s talk or two. You’ll usually find Bryn near (or in) any body of water, hear her talking about her obsession with Africa, or witness her pure joy and constant excitement about life through conversation or music. A few fun facts: she recently won a rock climbing competition, has visited two approved Marian apparition sites (Our Lady of Kibeho in Rwanda, Africa and Our Lady of Good Help in Green Bay, WI), and has spread the Gospel to young students in over 10 cities (in 3 different countries, including Rwanda and the Czech Republic)!
Marc is from Rice Lake and attended his home parish of Our Lady of Lourdes in Dobie for the first 18 years of his life. He is now in his junior year at UW-La Crosse studying biology with future aspirations of pursuing a medical degree. In La Crosse, he is active in the Roncalli Newman Parish, where he cantors and participates in the choir. He also enjoys his involvement with UWL’s Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS). When not preoccupied by studying in the library, Marc loves to camp, travel, run, cross-country ski, play trombone and piano, sing, and explore the bluffs! One bucket list item of his is to visit all 60 of the nation’s national parks, and he currently has seen 15. His favorite prayer is the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, and he has tried (and failed) to read the entire Diary of St. Faustina from which the chaplet originates. Marc is thrilled to be a part Superior Disciple and hopes that his words can inspire others to serve and to spread Christ’s joy.
Jared is a whimsical fellow who grew up Rice Lake, Wisconsin. He currently attends the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire, studying Human Performance. As far as the future goes, he has what feels like millions of options and has declared he will simply “go with the flow.” However, he most likely will be pursuing a personal training certification and a master’s degree in clinical exercise physiology. You may have guessed, but he loves everything sports/exercise and health related and hopes to do his part in promoting exercise in the world. He also feels as if sports are a very effective and fun way to engage people who share the interest, and infusing Christ into that is such a great way to spread the light and evangelize. That is why one of his favorite role models in the faith is Bl. Pier Giorgio Frassati (what a man!). In addition, he has recently been very inspired by one of the newest saints to be canonized, St. Nunzio Sulprizio (look into his story; it’s simple yet inspiring). As a closing fun fact, Jared once completed the Blazin’ Wings Challenge at Buffalo Wild Wings, and he still hasn’t received his shirt… Get on that B-dubs!
Isaiah is a seminarian for the Diocese of Superior, studying Theology I at St. Francis de Sales Seminary near Milwaukee. Although he grew up in Minnesota, he is now a registered member at St. William’s Catholic Church in Foxboro (just south of Superior). He graduated from Franciscan University of Steubenville (Ohio) in May, 2018 with a B.A. in Philosophy, Theology, and Catechetics. He was a member of the Totus Tuus team in the Diocese of Superior during the summers of 2015 and 2017. His favorite daily devotions are to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus and to His mother, Our Lady of Sorrows.
Brandon is a spicy convert that comes from the Diocese of La Crosse and served as a DOS Totus Tuus missionary in 2019. He recently graduated with a degree in criminal justice from Chippewa Valley Technical College and will be transferring to Mid-State Tech to pursue a new degree in IT Network Security. Brandon can often be found wandering around outdoors and particularly enjoys hiking and kayaking. One of his favorite adventures was visiting the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina with friends. Not surprisingly, Brandon will often call upon St. Michael to help him in his daily activities. He’s hoping to bring joy to listeners by combining humor and a relaxed atmosphere with his friend and co-host, Jared!
Erich is from the massive metropolitan area of Merrill, WI and served as a Totus Tuus team member in the summer of 2016. He currently works at St. Francis Xavier school in Merrill as a Spanish teacher and 4K teacher’s aide (this is not a joke). He enjoys coaching high school and middle school soccer, playing most sports from basketball to ping pong, making dance videos that involve large wildlife, and deep belly laughing. His favorite saints are St. John Vianney, Pope St. John Paul II, and St. Teresa of Kolkata. He also really enjoys listening to Bishop Robert Barron’s podcast: the Word on Fire Show. Erich is pumped to be part of the Superior Disciple project that will provide an opportunity for youth to grow in their faith, that will connect the diocese, and that will help him grow in his own faith. Peace be wich’ y’all!!
